2011 Goals or Resolutions

To me these words mean close to the same thing.  Goal sounds less scary and something you can break down to small steps.  Resolution sounds final no wiggle room only failure.  This may not be absolutely correct but what I see.  I don’t usually set New Year resolutions, I never follow through. This year I am ready for a change and plan to follow through with these goals.

Goal 1:  Since last November I have lost 16 lbs. Yeah me!!! I am so excited about that.  I still have a way to go but by taking it day at a time I will be at my goal weight by my birthday in May.  My reward is going to be a shopping spree for new clothes.

Goal 2:  I am going to exercise 3 to 4 times a week.  This can be walking, biking; cleaning the house, yard work, the list goes on.  I will make it a habit and actually want to do it rather than not. My reward will be feeling better and hopefully not need to use an inhaler before or after each workout.

Goal 3:  I will read through the Bible this year.  I purchased The Daily Bible in Chronological Order a few years ago but didn’t finish it.  This is something I have always started but never got very far. My reward will be a better knowledge of what God has and wants for me.

Goal 4: Book It 2011 (this is an online group reading club).  These books will be meaningful to me as a Wife, Mother, and all around self-improvement. Each month (for 11 mths) I will login and discuss the book I just finished. The group leader has set the books she wants to read and I can read her list or make my own.  I mainly am going to read ones I have already.
Reading List
Jan – To Love Honor and Vacuum by Shiela Gregoire
Feb – Mansfield Park by Jane Austen (found free on Amazon Kindle download)
Mar – Smart Organizing by Sandra Felton
Apr – Your Boy: Raising a Godly Son by Vicki Courtney
May – Little Pilgrims Progress by Helen Taylor
Jun – The Battle for the Beginning by John MacArthur
July – Created to be His Help Meet by Debi Pearl
Aug – Passionate Housewives Desperate for God by Jeannie Chancey & Stacy McDonald
Sept – Women on the Edge by Cindi McMenamin
Oct – Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell
Nov – One Tough Mother by Julie Barnhill

Goal 5: Keep finances in order and current.  We are working on removing debt and I sometimes sabotage the process by not following the budget. I plan to set one up and stay within it as much as possible.

Goal 6:  Participate in my first 5K.  I have signed up for the Gusher 5K Marathon in March.  I don’t think I will be running it but want to challenge myself to walk it in the quickest time possible for myself. Right now I can walk it in an hour.  I hope to cut that down to about 30 to 45 mins.  May not happen but I will be on my way to a 10K next year.

This should keep me busy for now.  J I will adjust as the need arises and add to it if I need to.  Hope you all have taken time to take stock on you would like to accomplish in 2011.  Happy New Year all.

Jess,
These are great goals!

I love the book idea! You know I'm a huge fan of books too! I have already read several on the list and they are really good. You should have fun with that.

I haven't made any resolutions as of yet. Maybe I'll post some this week.

Looking forward to reading your next post.
